When she vied and successfully made it to the regional Parliament nearly four years ago, she had in mind how she would be instrumental in creating awareness to the people of her country on the economic and political benefits of the community.
Her entry into Eala could have been miraculous. She is already on the stage and for the last three years or so she had made her stand as well as the concerns of Tanzanians known across the region on how the EAC was there to improve the wellbeing of the East Africans, Tanzanians included.

Ms Bhanji cited the huge market which the local small-scale traders as well as small and medium-scale entrepreneurs SMEs could exploit through zero-tariffs of imported goods within the region. The EAC bloc has a combined population of about million people. Tanzania, she explained, had comparative advantage than most of its neighbours, especially in food production, citing Rwanda which imported almost half of its food from Tanzania.
If pledges made by President John Pombe Magufuli to revive and build industries are anything to go by, then Tanzania is set to benefit again, given the huge potential for the processing industries from the agricultural, livestock and allied sectors. Ms Bhanji, a former journalist, who has practiced with a number of media houses, including the government-owned Daily News and the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation TBC , has served in various committees of the Eala, and is currently a member of the Accounts Committee.
She holds an MA in Journalism Studies from the University of Cardiff and Wales prior to which she went through long training stint in Journalism locally and outside the country. She had also worked with the city water and Dawasco; the water utilities for Dar es Salaam city. But it is her stint at the Accounts Committee of Eala where Shy-Rose, as she is often called, where she does not see a reason to smile, especially when funds meant for regional projects and programmes are misused.
